3 Shows, 3 weekends and we are still standing (and working!)

Yep, just finished 3 amazing antiques and vintage shows! 3 Speckled Hens in Paso Robles, then Remnants of the Past in San Luis Obispo, and finally CALM antiques & vintage show in our home town, Santa Barbara. Each show, unique, and each show so special. We travel almost every weekend, doing flea markets, but when we get the opportunity to be a part of these shows, we truly look forward to them, and unhesitatingly say YES! when we are asked. The women who created, dream up and bring to life these shows are so gifted, so talented and each time surpass their previous efforts. And then there are the folk who come to these shows. It is wonderful (and a good bit humbling) to us that you all come, and give such kind feed back about (and buy!) our lighting, our furniture, and our curious odd bits of whimsy. We love what we do, we really do, and it means so much that you all appreciate our work.

We get to be home for a bit now...in our new, larger workshop just across the street, 4188 Carpinteria Ave, Suite 9 & 10, Carpinteria CA 93013. We enjoy sharing what we do, so please give us a call (805-698-5329) and come by.

Well I guess it would be, help the Brothers out?

We want nothing more than to keep creating one of a kind pieces for you all to enjoy, and we are always looking for feedback, comments, questions and everything else in between.

We are always on the hunt for items and pieces that we can turn into something truly different and unique. You know what they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure! So, if anyone has anything, 'junk', or otherwise, laying around that you don't know what on earth to do with, ie: old gears, wood, interesting meta pieces or bases, old farm equipment, etc. contact the Brothers!! If you want to sell it, just get rid of it, or have some inspiration that it could be made into something truly unique and awesome to display in your home, let us know! Or if you know of any good places to go to find some of this stuff, we'd be more than appreciative! We're always looking, but you know what they say, two sets of eyes are better than one! So help the Brothers out, help us keep the creativity flowing, your junk could easily be treasure.

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to post some pictures of an amazing table that just was finished in the shop! The large gear used on the base is from some old mining equipment, and the top is glass, which makes it so easy to admire this wonderful unique piece! Stay tuned for more updates on shows as well as our show room being open to the public by appointment! Sorry it has taken us so long to get that up and running but it is wonderful that everyone interested in our one of a kind pieces keeps us busy! I almost forgot!

Long Beach!!

So the packing and preparation for the Long Beach show was in full swing today! Lots of stuff going on at the workshop, now and in the future! Be sure to go say hi to the brothers at the show if you're anywhere near, or are going to be anywhere near Long Beach!

Also, a sneak peak at some new lighting, (super excited!), the brothers hard at work in the shop and some new tables! Sorry about the background not being too aesthetically pleasing, but when it's time to load the truck, you work with what you've got! Enjoy!

The newest table to come from the brothers. The base is really awesome and the reclaimed top is such a nice warm contrast to the colder steel base. It had everyone stopping to take a peak before it even left for the show!

I love the simplicity of this table, and the top is gorgeous!

Farm Chicks!!

Hello everyone!

So just this last weekend, Mother, Brothers and Brand Manager - that's me! - journeyed to The Farm Chicks Antiques Show in Spokane, Washington. The show is held annually, and this was our first year being a part of it! Roughly 200 vendors all come together to do what they love best and as a result, visitors from all over the country come to check it out and hunt for treasures of all sorts. Imagine a giant venue packed with nothing but antiques, vintage objects and hand made goods from great vendors.

The excitement began even before we reached Washington. On the plane, I had the pleasure of sitting next to a very nice woman from New York, and upon hearing who I worked for, she immediately informed me that she knew exactly who Brothers of Industry was because she had seen our table that was featured on HGTV's "Secrets of a Stylist"! Talk about a small world! Also, two more of our wonderful tables were snatched up at the show and taken to new homes! So, last weekend was an exciting one for us. Our reclaimed bowling alley table made it onto Emily Henderson's "Secrets From a Stylist". It really looked great how she had it set up, and we were so happy to see it in such a nice set up.

If you haven't already seen the show you really show, its great, it even had us watching.

Rose Bowl This Weekend

Well, its been a while now since our last post (been a few hectic weeks). We got back from Round Top last week and had our first show in Alameda with some new great pieces. The show was great, thank you to everyone who came out (and there were certainly a lot of you).

The name on the barn says it all.

While Round Top deserves its own post, it will have to wait until we have some more time to compile our thoughts. However, this weekend is Rose Bowl again, and after not going last month we have a ton of great new pieces.

We will be bringing some of our the great antiques we found in Texas as well as some great new creations (look for our new industrial table as well as some new lighting). You can find us in spots J17 and J19.

New, fantastic restaurant. Not only is the food amazing but the great owners were kind enough to have us build the tables, benches and counter tops for them! These are reclaimed wood tables made from white oak out of an Alabama distillery. They are located in Silverlake at 3827 W. Sunset blvd.

Alameda antique mart is here. Look for us this Sunday. We have been especially busy these past few weeks. We are working on a restaurant job that includes tables, counters and benches. All made from reclaimed wood. Check back soon to see the final installation.

We had a great time at the Rose bowl flea market. The weather was great, the people were happy and we sold a lot! The kitchen island pictured below is one of our newest pieces. It was made with an old work bench base and a reclaimed barn wood top. We will have it available at the Long Beach collectible mart this Sunday the 16th. We are located in spaces D 527 and 528. Heading to Alameda flea market

My brother and I have been going non stop for the past two weeks. We've been buying like crazy in order to prepare for our next show. Here are the most recent tables that I we have made for the show Sunday the 5th. We are heading up to Alameda near San Francisco this weekend to sell and buy. Rain is in the forecast but it shouldn't be a worry. These tables are made of both white oak and doug fir. The grey is old doug fir from a barn in Wyoming. The white oak and doug for are both from an old ranch property. Hopefully I come back from San Francisco without any of my tables. Check back for a step by step on making tables like these.

Peter and I very much enjoyed the past Santa Monica flea market. We found quite a few interesting items. It was a bit chilly during the morning but all and all it was a nice time for picking. We are headed to the Alameda antique show this weekend hoping to do some good shopping and selling. Pics will be posted.

This place has an amazing selection of wood from barns in Montana to African Azobe railroad ties from the late 1800's. We picked up some great red and white oak boards as well as beech and doug fir. Looking forward to turning these into mirrors and tables.

Hey everyone,

My brother Peter and I have decided to create a blog to document our adventures in the world of antiques, flea markets, picking, rehabbing, creating and life. We are going under the name Brothers Of Industry as a homage to the period of pieces we love. We will post pictures and stories of times hunting for reclaimed lumber, antiques, anything rusty, dusty, pharmaceutical and industrial. We owe our reason for entering this field to our antique dealing mother (check out her blog All things beautiful in time ), our doctor father and a bad economy that has made it damn near impossible to find a decent job. We are excited to share the ins and outs of what it takes to find the pieces we find, the rehab we do and the final home they reach.
